“AIHM taught me that success in hospitality is not only about skills, but also about values and character.” ~ Keron J.
AIHM was proud to welcome students from West Visayas State University and the University of San Agustin (Philippines) to our Bangkok campus for an immersive and hands-on hospitality learning experience.
Located inside a working hotel environment, AIHM offers something no other hospitality school can: a fully integrated, real-world setting where academic knowledge and operational excellence come together. This visit was a powerful showcase of how students can learn hospitality in a real hotel environment, setting a new standard for international hospitality education.
A Hands-On Hospitality Seminar
The hospitality immersion trip began with an interactive seminar led by AIHM’s faculty.
Students explored topics such as guest relations, housekeeping management, and service excellence in luxury hotels. Rather than traditional lecture-based learning, students engaged in practical exercises that brought these classroom concepts to life in a meaningful way.
The San Augustin students had this to say:
“The AIHM seminar was a really nice experience because I got to learn more about the hospitality industry” said one student.
“The professors are so fun and interactive, I loved it so much.”
“This seminar is the best!”
This hands-on approach reflects AIHM’s commitment to delivering a hotel management training experience aligned with global industry standards and built upon the Swiss hospitality management school approach. Students were encouraged to think critically, solve real hospitality challenges, and collaborate. Each of these skills are essential for success in today’s dynamic hospitality landscape, especially for those who wish to pursue careers as hotel managers.
Learning Inside a Real Hotel Environment
A defining highlight of the visit was the opportunity to experience hospitality from a guest perspective at the Skyline Restaurant. Students were able to enjoy the precision and warmth that define Thai hospitality for its global visitors.
Beyond the dining experience, students explored the Riverside complex, including the iconic Anantara Riverside Bangkok Resort and Avani+ Riverside Bangkok Hotel. Students observed and learned from the ways in world-class hotels deliver exceptional experiences consistently.
The site visit offered rare behind-the-scenes access to:
- Guest rooms and luxury accommodations
- Signature restaurants and dining concepts
- Riverside event spaces and operations
- Wellness and spa facilities
- Rooftop bar and leisure experiences
This level of exposure allows students to connect classroom concepts directly to real operations. At AIHM, the hotel itself becomes a living classroom, reinforcing learning through observation and engagement.
Students shared:
“Beautiful hotel and campus!”
“We are making memories happen! This trip shows that nothing compares to when you give someone a memorable experience. Thank you.”
“We gained a lot of learning about hotels and gained great experiences!”
Beyond the Classroom: Cultural Exchange
While technical knowledge and industry exposure is essential, hospitality is ultimately about people.
This hospitality immersion experience created valuable opportunities for students to:
- Build cross-cultural communication skills
- Develop a global mindset
- Form connections with future hospitality professionals across ASEAN
For many, this experience offered a glimpse into the international nature of the hospitality industry, where collaboration and cultural sensitivity are key to delivering exceptional guest experiences.
“It was an AIHMazing experience!”
“Thank you for the experience and new knowledge that AIHM has shared to us.”
“AIHM opened my eyes to a wider perspective and opportunities.”
