Where Hospitality’s Leading Brands Meet Tomorrow’s Talent

Hospitality Career where brands meet talent blog heading

The Asian Institute of Hospitality and Management (AIHM) proudly hosted its third semiannual Career Fair on 1 July 2026, bringing together students and industry professionals for a day of networking, career exploration, and meaningful dialogue.

Indeed, this year’s event marked another milestone in the continued growth of the Career Fair. In particular, it welcomed 16 industry partners representing leading hotels, hospitality companies, industry associations, and consultancies. As a result, the event provided students with a valuable opportunity to connect directly with potential employers. In addition, it let them learn about career pathways and, moreover, build professional relationships in a supportive and structured environment.

Preparing the Next Generation of Hospitality Professionals

A key goal of the AIHM Career Fair is to bridge the gap between education and industry. Through face-to-face conversations with recruiters and hospitality leaders, students gained insights into employer expectations, emerging industry trends, and potential career opportunities.

For our first semester students, this event allowed them to share their CVs with employers for the first time and take their first steps toward launching a professional career. For others, it was a chance to reconnect with industry partners they had come to know through internships, site visits, guest lectures, and industry collaborations developed over their three years at AIHM.

Through the interactive Career Fair Bingo Challenge, students were empowered to move beyond simple introductions and engage employers with thoughtful, revealing, and sometimes challenging questions. The activity encouraged deeper conversations about company culture, career progression, and the realities of working in hospitality, helping students build confidence and sharpen their professional communication skills.

Furthermore, the event provided employers with a valuable platform to showcase what makes their organizations unique. Notably, from workplace culture to sustainability initiatives and employee benefits, participating brands were able to share their stories and connect directly with the next generation of hospitality talent. By creating authentic conversations between students and industry leaders, the AIHM Career Fair continues to foster stronger partnerships and prepare graduates for successful and meaningful careers in hospitality.

Inside the AIHM Employer Forum

This year, the AIHM Career Fair opened with the Employer Forum, creating a unique platform for the graduating class of students and industry representatives to exchange perspectives on the future of hospitality employment.

The forum encouraged honest and constructive discussions about workplace expectations, career growth, and organizational culture. These conversations are essential for fostering a healthy, adaptive, and thriving industry built on mutual understanding and collaboration.

During the hour-long session, the employers shared how they now prioritize soft skills in new hires more than they did in the past. Specifically they mention:

  • A willingness to learn
  • Flexibility
  • Curiosity

Meanwhile, the AIHM young professionals showed a greater focus on personal growth, seeking to develop competencies such as:

  • Leadership
  • Communication
  • Emotional Intelligence

Taken together

this suggests a workplace culture that increasingly values adaptability and social connection over strictly technical expertise. Ultimately, by creating a welcoming environment for open dialogue, AIHM continues to strengthen the connection between education and industry while helping students transition confidently into their careers.
